💨 Hot wax

Wax Monkey first caught my ear via the Instagram Reels algorithm last summer, with a series of visually calming yet sonically stimulating videos from a beautiful deck overlooking the Wild West somewhere in Colorado. When they're not posted up on beautiful Colorado balconies, they also play Widespread Panic at frat parties. The duality of man, or at least the ones in Tuscaloosa-based jam bands.

While their electrified mix of funk and soul is outside of our usual purview of "wooden instruments," but we know music made with the right combination of vibrations and juices when we hear it. I encourage you to give their debut record, Encompass, a listen wherever you stream your music. Click here for easy links or check out their two YouTube videos, an original and a Phish cover. There goes that duality of man again.

Wax Monkey is on tour this summer. Check out their dates! While you're at it, see if you can make a Valley Flower and Mountain Grass Unit show, too.

Give Wax Monkey a spin, let me know what you think, and let me know who you're excited to see this summer. If you make an account on this blog-site, you can leave a comment. If any of you so dare, I look forward to hearing from you and I'll be commenting back.
